News on the Donald Trump front has been sparse.
He hasn’t raped or even attempted to rape any women lately. I guess that he hasn’t found anyone in recent times who’s “his type.”
Lately he hasn’t been tried for anything, civil or criminal. The evidence and the suspense keeps on building on both the Georgia election-tampering front and on his handling of classified documents, but so far no action. I’m sure that Trump believes that his Georgia lawyers will hit it out of the park by saying that his request to find almost 12,000 votes was just wishful thinking rather than a request to manufacture ballots. It worked, for a while at least, for Chicago’s Mayor Daley.
And of course, there’s always Trump’s insistence that as President he can do what he wants with secret documents. Federal judges, I’m sure, will feel enlightened to be reminded of the highly-respected legal precedent known as ”They’re mine, so don’t bug me.” And anyway, Biden did it too, right?
Trump hasn’t come up with any really novel ways of attempting to bully Ron DeSantis recently, but perhaps his writers are just holding those in abeyance till things heat up as 2024 draws nearer. Once you say “Ron DeSanctimonious” a few times, it does get pretty boring—especially for the average Trump supporter who never had any of idea what the word sanctimonious means in the first place.
And then there are those other candidates. Besides the fact that Trump doesn’t fear them, he knows that he might need a woman on the ticket with him (Nikki Haley) or a Black man (Tim Scott). So why trash them if he doesn’t have to. They just might be useful against Biden. After all, there aren’t many Black politicians who might pose and smile beside a candidate who’s trying desperately to court every white supremacist out there.
So Donald, I challenge you to turn up the heat. Do something outrageous. Say something newsworthy. What’s that, you say? The election was rigged and stolen.
Sorry, old man. Gotta do better. Been there and done that.
