By the Way, Who Won the 2020 Election?

Every day I wake up believing that the reports of polls showing Trump leading Biden are simply untrue, that they are—to coin a phrase—fake news. I just cannot accept that a majority of the US populace could even consider voting for that crooked, evil fascist.

It’s not that I love Biden (although I sort of do like him), but the alternative is so scary that every possible adult with an IQ over 73 must realize what a reign of terror would fall upon us if what’s-his-name, that idiot narcissist, is in the White House.

But on many days my search for good news reaps its rewards. Wednesday was such a day with the announcement that Lara Trump had been named the Co-Chair of the Republican National Committee. Lara Trump has no bonafides, no relevant experience whatsoever. Her one credential is that she somehow ended up marrying Eric Trump, the lowest and least of the Trump sons. There had been a move to name her as the sole leader of the GOP, but not even the Republicans are that stupid. So chalk one up to the highest (or is it lowest?) form of nepotism, and good luck to Eric’s blushing bride.

Oh yes, one other thing about the RNC. They need people to work for them, so job interviews are ongoing, with enthusiastic young men and women being asked all sorts of important and revealing questions, such as:

“What is your background, young man? What are your interests?”

“Where did you go to school, young lady? What was your major?”

And then there’s my favorite, and yes, it is actually being asked:

“And who do you think won the election in 2020?”

What? The Republican National Committee will only hire you if can pass this litmus test, if you are willing to espouse publicly that 2020 was stolen?

Knowing that the good folks powering the Republican Party are out of touch with reality, that they are ready and able to defend the big lie (or at least good liars themselves) fills my heart with joy. Can an organization headed by a maniac and manned by an army of die-hard true believers who have lost touch with reality win a national election?

I think not… OMG, I hope not.
