Afternoon Tea at the White House

In breaking news, Donald Trump was released an hour ago from Walter Reed Medical Center. He could neither smile for the cameras nor make a statement since his jaw was broken in three places.

Details of the incident are just emerging, although apparently it is connected to Mr. Trump’s reluctant agreement to follow precedent and invite the President-elect and his wife to the White House. Insiders suggest that the President’s daughter, Ivanka, had told her father that enough was enough, even for him, and threatened that she would defect to the other side unless he agreed to have Joe and Jill Biden over for tea.

“Remember how much you hated Obama and how much he hated you back, but then you and Melania went to the White House and talked for a long time. If you could put up with him and his know-it-all wife, then you and Joe should be able to make believe and play nice for just a few minutes.”

Apparently the meeting of the two couples began cordially, although there was some tension when Joe and Jill insisted on wearing masks and Donald and Melania refused. Those who were close to the conversation indicate that all was going well until Mr. Trump said, “Joe, I’ll never accept the result of this election. I am so loved and you’re such a loser.”

Biden, shocked at the statement, kept his cool and responded, “But Mr. President, you have to understand that even Bill Barr found the results honest and that I beat you by over six million votes.”

“Bullshit. No one could lose to a weakling such as you.”

Sensing a sudden chill in the air, Jill Biden attempted to settle things down. “Gentlemen, let’s keep this civil, please.”

“Double bullshit,” yelled Trump to Jill, jumping to his feet and standing over her. “Loser. Cheater. I won, damnit.”

“When I got up,” Joe Biden recounted, “Trump shoved me. And that’s when I cold-cocked him. Right in the jaw—shut him up real quick, except for his whimpering like a baby on the floor. Hadn’t done that since my Golden Gloves days in Aliquippa. I wasn’t bad in the ring. I had the knockout punch then too.”

When asked whether he felt it was irregular for the President-elect to respond in this way, Joe admitted regret for losing his temper, noting that he never would have acted that way if Trump hadn’t attempted to bully his wife. “I just couldn’t believe he talked that way to her,” he muttered.

Then, with a sheepish grin on his face, Joe winked and said, “And, by the way, it felt really good.”
