Mitt Romney, you’re my hero!! I never thought I’d say this, in fact I’ve said some not very favorable things about you in the past, but you’re my hero!
Fifty Republican Senators, many of whom must be privately appalled by the conduct of this President, and all of whom are terrified to do anything less than pay him total obeisssance, voted Not Guilty concerning the impeachment of Donald J. Trump.
One Republican, whom I’ve never thought of as a man of great courage or principle, considered the facts, looked inwardly, and had the nerve to stand up to the local bully.
Mitt, we know quite surely that you are going to take the heat for this vote. For you and your family, the s–t has hit the fan. Mob boss Donald is not a man of understanding or forgiveness, and he has already begun to launch a fucillade of tweets assaulting your character. Junior, son of Donald, has called for your expulsion from the Republican party. In their desire to curry favor with Boss Trump, a horde of lackeys will do his work and attempt to demean and punish you in every way possible. Life for you and your family will not be pleasant in the halls of Congress or back home.
Still, could it be that breaking the unanimity of the jury will make a difference? Could it be that one person can serve as a positive model, allowing others to go beyond fear and conformity and stand up for what they must know, down deep, is right?
Could it be that courage is such a precious and rare commodity?
Could it be that there was only one?
So I want you to feel the love for simply doing the right thing–Mitt, you’re my hero!
Make sure, every one, to go to his Senate website and express appreciation for the courage and decency he displayed.
