Hitler rounded up Jews—because they were Jews. Trump is rounding up Hispanics—because they are Hispanics. No, he isn’t sending them to the ovens, however much Stephen Miller might be advising him to consider that alternative, but he is sending them to the most barbaric prisons and/or back into the hands of other political systems where their lives will surely be endangered. When will it stop? How many will suffer at his hands?
Foreign students are being turned away from Harvard, and if Trump can get away with it, from every college and university. The man wants a country with racial purity. Foreigners bring danger and filth. They cannot be trusted, well, especially if they come from shithole countries. White skin is a ticket of admittance for immigrants, as Trump recently ushered in a group of South African “refugees” who were, according to the President’s report, victims of evil people with Black skin.
What a crappy place this demagogue has turned this place into. Is there a single country in the world where America is not disdained, reviled, mocked, or hated. Oil-rich countries bestow upon him bribes of all sorts, tossing his way trinkets such as luxury airplanes, but those same leaders mock him behind his back, and the populace of those places have no use for the man. The pompous fool delights in flattery, they realize. And, yes, he certainly can be used. So I guess the foreigner rule does have an exception: Even if you talk a funny language and your skin is not pearly white, for the right price, he can be safely bought. Nonetheless, stay the hell out of my country.
Is there a front where he does not affront? Vaccine experts are being tossed off vaccine advisory boards, replaced by those who spread disinformation. The Kennedy Center’s Advisory Board was told their services were no longer needed, replaced by hand-picked white men and women, who then appointed Trump to be their chief cultural advisor. Last night the Ruler-in-Chief visited that Center in DC to attend a performance of Les Mis, where, to no one’s surprise, he received boos in equal number to cheers. If the President had any understanding of the concept of irony, it might have occurred to him that the play is all about disenfranchised people protesting against an unfair ruler who embitters their lives and hunts them down for petty crimes they commit to eke out an existence. In a moment when he wasn’t warding off National Guard troops illegally sent to his state by the President, Gavin Newsom got it right when he said, “Someone, explain the plot to him.”
Stay tuned. I hear that there will be great performances at that venue, you know, as soon as they can figure out what to call it once they dump the name Kennedy from the marquee.
