Those of you who are at all familiar with Kruscontrol.com know that your host is obsessed with the stupidity and failures of the most despicable man on earth, one Donald J Trump. Almost without exception, this column focuses on the man and the harm that he is foisting upon the planet. But every now and then, one of his evil crew becomes so notably stupid or repugnant that this person requires a special commendation for villainy.
Stephen Miller, that cross between Hitler, Machiavelli, and Madame Defarge, is one such person whom I have singled out in the past. But today we “celebrate” the awfulness of Pete Macho-Man Hegseth, the man who heads the Department of War—recall that it is no longer the Department of Defense, because under the astute guidance of this drunkard we don’t sit back like sissies and defend. We wage war, we attack, we kill, we reign supreme at all costs. And if you think I am exaggerating, here are two quotes from the esteemed leader of our military machine:
“We are not defenders anymore. We are warriors trained to kill the enemy and break their will.”
“Maximum lethality, not tepid legality. Violent effect, not politically correct.”

Pete and Donald make a great pair. They have no reservations about blowing up civilian targets, they don’t know the meaning of war crimes. To them, it’s like sitting down and playing a video game—kaboom, there goes another refinery–or was it a hospital. Who cares.
The thinking is simple: If the enemy didn’t want to suffer the consequences, they shouldn’t have started this war in the first place. Oh, what’s that you say—we started the war. Well, never mind, it’s their fault anyway.
Pistol Pete reinforces all of the worst stereotypes I have ever had of the military: a sense of anger and ruthlessness; an aversion to weakness or any sort or sensitivity to normal human emotions, blind hatred for anyone and anything that could be defined as the enemy (and the enemy is anyone who disagrees with me or dares get in my way); and the expectation of blind obedience of orders.
I’ve always imagined that this must be the overt curriculum at places such as West Point or the Naval Academy. But… several years ago I worked with a colleague who helped me become acquainted with the actual curriculum of the US Military Academy, and I met one of its faculty. I found out that both inside and outside the classroom, young men and women (the latter of whom don’t belong in the military, according to General Hegseth) are taught values that are totally antithetical to those of the current leadership. Integrity, honor, character, selflessness, and discipline are taught and modeled. Critical thinking is valued, not just blind obedience. It’s not surprising that Pete has removed several of the most high-ranking leaders of the military, both male and female. Pete calls them “woke” because they won’t accede to the outrageous values and practices he espouses. “Woke” is the term he applies to a style that values thoughtfulness, open discussion, and concern for human life. No room for that in this man’s army.
Pete, you’re the perfect foil for the Commander-in-Chief. Good luck in Iran. Good luck opening up the Strait of Hormuz. And, by the way, if that’s not going so well and we need a bit of a distraction, defenseless Cuba is there for the taking. I hear that their cigars go well with whiskey.
Pistol Pete also says no mercy–which should be a problem since he is also a rabid (though cultish) Christian. He seems to have forgotten that his CEO apart from Trump, Jesus, said, The quality of mercy is not strained. And never mind, of course, that the rules of war (!) state that total and indiscriminate violence is a war crime. (A war What?)
